Top Troubleshooting Questions

1. Install the latest version of QuickTime

Older versions of QuickTime may play only the audio and not the video. Or, other versions may not be able to play the content at all. Check to see what version of the QuickTime Player you have and if it is not 7.0 or greater, you will not be able to view the live content of the site.

To check your version of QuickTIme on a PC you would typically go to the "Start" menu and then go into the index of Programs. Locate "QuickTime" and select the QuickTime Player. When it opens you can select "About QuickTIme" from the "Help" menu. This will tell you what version you are running.

On a Mac, open the QuickTime Player (typically in the Applications folder) and under the "QuickTime Player" menu the first item is "About QuickTime Player." This will indicate what version you have installed.

• If you don't have a version of QuickTime that is 7.0 or greater, you can download the latest version for free (PC or Mac) at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download.

• If you have successfully installed QuickTime, version 7.0 or later, then you should be able to view the archived video samples at http://www.GoNU.TV/archives.html.

2. Check your firewall settings

Typically on a PC, there is a need for extensive security, so your firewall settings may be blocking QuickTime or restricting the applications available to your web browser. Go to the "Start" menu and select the Control Panel. Then select "Windows Firewall." Check to see that your browser and QuickTime Player are not being blocked. You may have to click on the "Exceptions" tab to see which applications are being allowed.

3. Check your connection speed

If you are using a wireless connection, or if you are sharing your internet connection with others, you may not be able to view the webcast successfully. You can check your download speed with the test button below (you can run the test several times to get your current download speed range). If the results are consistently below 800 kilobytes per second, you could have intermittent problems with the video feed, or not be able to connect to the webcast at all. For best performance, connect your computer directly to your high-speed source (modem, router, etc.).
